Adding Infrared capability to the APL allows the user to incorporate all generations of night vision while maintaining the option for white light on demand.  The IR light provides discreet illumination through use of the existing paddle switches for activation of either white or IR light.  A master switch cleverly located on the bottom makes for a seamless transition from white to IR.
